In 2021, Hatton Quarry was recognized as our DIAMOND ELITE AWARD winner for the first time. Because Hatton
discharges water into the Cossatot River daily, and because the river is home to a variety of fish and endangered plant
species and serves as a wintering ground for several American bald eagles, water testing at the operation is as much a
priority as safety. Plant Manager Salomon Hernandez says the team regularly examines discharges from three separate
testing points and hasn’t received an environmental violation in more than 16 years. “This award means everything to us,
especially during this year of pandemic,” said Hernandez. “We overcame challenges we had never faced before, and we
did it all safely while maintaining excellent levels of production and customer service.”
