The Ethics Office investigations are conducted in a manner that complies with all
applicable federal, state, and local laws, orders, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
Investigators are assigned complaints by the Ethics Office, and they are instructed to
execute their responsibilities with integrity and fairness. The primary responsibility of
an investigator is to uncover facts and evidence to substantiate or refute allegations
and/or to fully comprehend an incident. Investigators must act with integrity in
the methods used in obtaining information, documentation, and evidence.
All investigations of ethics-related matters alleging possible misconduct
or wrongdoing must be assigned by the Ethics Office, regardless of to
whom the violation is reported. All investigations of suspicions of fraud
must be reported to the Ethics Office as soon as the issue is discovered or
reported and before any investigation is undertaken. The investigation
