                                                                                                                                    EMPLOYEE SURVEY PROVIDES VALUABLE FEEDBACK

                                                                                                                                    In April 2018, Martin Marietta sought to gain a greater understanding of its overall employee experience by surveying
                                                                                                                                    more than 2,000 employees with truly diverse backgrounds.

                                                                                                                                    Martin Marietta worked with a third-party firm to solicit opinions on a multitude of topics, including workplace culture,
                                                                                                                                    career development, work/life balance and the onboarding process. While many of the respondents rated the company
                                                                                                                                    highly, certain elements of Martin Marietta’s operations were identified as potential growth areas.

                                                                                                                                    In response, several employee-led task forces were created to review these key operational elements and propose steps
                                                                                                                                    for improvement. One task force, for example, is analyzing the job and safety training new employees receive from day one
                                                                                                                                    through completion of the first year. Another is working to re-energize employee communication efforts. Vice President of
                                                                                                                                    Total Rewards Kelly Bennett says the recommendations of these task forces represent but a small part of our efforts to better
                                                                                                                                    serve our employees.

                                                                                                                                    “We want to make sure our employees have the opportunity to succeed in every avenue of their lives,” Bennett said.
